Because we only protect what we love, and we only love what we know, it’s time to change how we perceive sharks. Are you with us?
Our story
There are causes that touch you deeply, igniting a desire to strive for something greater. There is hope, coupled with the certainty that together, we can change the world for the better. This is the story of Coexistence Crew.
It all began with sharks: when you learn that the European Union is the leading exporter of shark fins to Asia, the first reaction is, “What?” That was Anne-Sophie Mouraud’s response, inspiring her to join forces with the Citizen Initiative "Stop Finning – Stop the Trade" to campaign for a ban on shark fin trade in Europe. In 2022, they collected over 1.1 million signatures, compelling the European Commission to review the citizen-led demand.
After walking the halls of the European Parliament, Anne-Sophie founded Coexistence Crew in July 2023—a collective created to amplify the message, breathe new life into the cause, and redefine our relationship with all living beings. Because one thing is certain: the story is far from over, and we need more and more people to step up and protect sharks and the Ocean.

A first Crew embarked on an expedition
It started as an idea, and it became a reality.
To launch this journey dedicated to sharks and the Ocean, Anne-Sophie gathered a team of five activists, influencers, and entrepreneurs last summer with three goals: to shift perspectives on these species—more threatened than threatening—to raise awareness about the shark fin trade in Europe, and to inspire action. The team set out to encounter the blue shark, the most fished shark species in the world, in Spain, the leading shark-fishing nation in Europe.
On a mission to reconnect humanity with sharks, the Ocean, and all living beings, while accelerating support for action.
The most misunderstood and hated animal on our planet, sharks have been burdened for decades with the image of Jaws—perceived as man-eaters and portrayed as such by media that fuel and amplify this fear. This perception legitimizes their overfishing and makes their protection difficult to implement.
Essential to the balance of our oceans and the ecosystem as a whole, sharks have existed for 450 million years. Yet, we have lost 70–90% of shark populations in less than 50 years. Their disappearance would be a tragedy for biodiversity—and for our survival. We must act before it’s too late.
Yes, it all started with the shark, but today it goes far beyond that.
Our vision: rewrite the narrative, transform emotions, change the future.
